Beauty Review: Benefit They're Real! Push-Up Liner
I'm excited to review the first ever lash-hugging gel liner pen by Benefit, They're Real! Push-Up Liner.
This eye liner actually is set to launch in-stores June 27th but I got my antsy little paws on them early, thanks to the "Get in Line" option on Benefit's web page. I have zero patience when it comes to these things and I'm very fond of the winged and cat eye look right now so it was a no brainer. PLUS I get to share my thoughts with you and then you can decide for yourself whether it's worth your $24 dollars.
Ah there it is, the glorious lash-hugging gel liner pen. It's pretty fascinating. A couple of clicks to get the gel out and you are ready to push them lashes up. After the initial handful of clicks, it will take a click or two for the gel to surface.
This is my first time owning a gel liner or any sort. So I'm a total newbie! I've tried pencils, eye liner pens and what have you and any one of them will smudge on my eyes. The lined eyelid thing, yeah that happens all the time, grrr. With this pen none of that happened.
As far as I know it delivered on all its promises:
Hugged the lashline-Check
Visibly larger eyes-Check.
Waterproof- It lasted all day and I sneezed a few times causing my eyes to get watery...so I think- CHECK.
I tried it with it's friend, the They're Real! Mascara. The dynamic duo.
Before and After: (plus some lipstick :D)
As I was drawing on the line, I started at the middle and drew along the corner of my eye which is when I drew my first straight(ish) line ever. The winged effect is SO easy, it kind of felt like back in art school when I would use a ruler in my pen & ink class to achieve straight lines, but without the ruler and art stuff. The AccuFlex tip is a great guide all you do is angle it & press it down and voila. Here's benefits step by step.
I think I did a decent job, still not perfect but definitely the easiest eyeliner I've ever used. The only drawback is one of its pluses, it's INDEED long lasting. Which means it's quite the task to remove. I generally have a hard time removing eyeliner anyway, but it did take me a few minutes longer than normal to get it off. I used a makeup remover towelette and my Make Up For Ever Sens'Eyes remover. Not something you want to do everyday but this is perfect for events, weddings, or a few select days a week. Let me add one last thing, this photo is filter free, I think I'm getting better at applying makeup! lol!
So what do you think? Are you going to pick one up for yourself? Or are you already over it?
You can buy it here come 6/27.
