If you follow me on Instagram, you probably noticed all kinds of fun pics from my vacay in Austin, Texas a week ago! It was sooo much fun, especially if you are a foodie!
Here are some of fave places to have some food, good drinks and shopping finds around Austin.
There's food trucks on every corner. I LOVE that. I enjoy trying innovative recipes in small portions so food trucks are just perfect! There's even a cupcake trailer, I'm a cupcake snob so no comment. :D
Comfort food in Texas is on point. I call this here a dessert sammich. This was my first time having pecan pie, so obviously had to have it with chocolate chips. Dinner at The Salt Lick BBQ in Driftwood is given. BYOB! If you are newbs, you can purchase some refreshing adult beverages at the wine tasting room.
A Perfect brunch spot at Blue Dahlia Bistro. Ask for seats in the backyard patio. Of course I would find a French restaurant in Texas :D. Sandwich's arrive on a slate rock. Don't forget dessert!
Honorable mentions aka So GOOD I didn't take a picture of the food!
-Valentina's Tex Mex BBQ (Downtown Texas) It's a food truck! $5 brisket tacos-call it a day.
-G'Raj Mahal Cafe on Rainey St. Thai food. Ask to sit in the back patio (Back patios are always where it's at!), the ceilings are draped and romantical. Order the Pakoras aka vegetable fritters!
Some neighborhoods here remind me of my home in Silicon Valley.
SoCo Congress street in particular is filled with many great boutiques!
Designer duds jackpot! Stop by UAL for designer for less, like Jimmy Choos (never been worn) for around $200.
It's also nice when the store greets you with champagne and a sale, plus free fashion show swag bags that day in particular. I have pretty good timing.
There's my haul! I've never had such a swag bag, full or Sephora brand goodies!
Cute & comfy shoe selection at Creatures Boutique. An assortment of Campers which are the most comfortable shoe you will own, with a sense of style. Look into these shoes online for sure.
I found my sweet tooth at this shop also. How cute are the gold cupcake & tooth charms?
Bathing suit my heart at Stella Blue Boutique & Hair Salon. Floral + Crochet = Gorgeous, it's by Roxy.
I flocked towards these feather headbands by Nature Bound. The price was fair for leather & pretty bird feathers. :D
There's a lot of great shopping on W. 2nd street as well.
Etcetera Etc, was such a find. They carry a ton of beautiful Australian brand dresses and clothing. I scored big with this intricate lace & white dress for 75% off! And the shop girl was a HUGE help in giving us tips on the best local hangouts, eats, and drinks.
Luxe Apothetique. What a cool boutique, filled with beauty supplies that you can't find at many other stores, there's a salon in the back, clothing, shoes, accessories, candles, perfumes, local goods, is there anything they don't have? I was blown away by all the Dr. Sponge varieties, I went with bamboo charcoal. You have to try these ladies!
The drinks on Rainey St. are too good. It's a street of houses turned into multiple very hip and eclectic mix of bars. I ordered a Blood and Sand at Clive Bar, my partner in crime got a smoky whisky concoction.
Fun & games at Lucille. I ordered a spicy salted Chili Cucumbertini. Each table in house has a classic board game. Drinking games encouraged.
And you know I love my coffee drinks. I never saw a Starbucks in Austin! Doesn't matter, when I'm on a trip I prefer tasting all the local coffee brews. One of favorites was from a quaint little coffee house called Vintage Heart Coffee. Iced mocha & cappuccino, delish!
