LuLu Guinness for UNIQLO

Have you checked out one the recent UNIQLO designer collabs?
LuLu Guinness is one of them and I love her whimsical prints and color palette.

The best part? They are all on sale now for $12.90! I might have to buy another one, but I can't make up my mind...

Shop them here:

I made a trip to San Francisco and just had to pick up one these shirts for myself!
Here's the one I picked:

How cute is this peter pan collar with polka dot print tank? Some of the polka dots feature a signature "LG" for LuLu Guinness.

This top will look great with a lot pieces in my wardrobe, I'm thinking white jeans, peplum skirts and a colorful pair of shorts.

Kind of like these ones I picked up on sale for $14.90 at UNIQLO while I was there:

Shop them here for $19.90:

You could pair any of the LuLu tops with these UNIQLO pencil skirts too! And they are on sale for $9.90 this week:

So cute right? Have you picked up a LG top for yourself yet?

DIY Nail Art: Things that make you go RAWR!

I must admit, I've neglected my nails the last 2 weeks. Doesn't seem like much but I rarely have naked nails, I love a little something on them at all times. In response to all this nail polish neglecting, I went big. I finally tried the leopard print nail art trend.

And it really is easier than you think!

Here's my golden snow leopard version:

Oops woke my furbaby up with my rawr-vishing nails ;)

What you will need:
A bobby pin for the spots, 3 nail polishes, white, gold and black.

But you could really do any color!

I used Essie "Blanco", Sephora for the black and Skin Food gold polish.

Personally, I found the easiest way to create the "spots" is by painting the ends of a bobby pin with the polish. I then drew a "C" shape with the ends of the painted bobby pin ends. Wait for them to dry and then painted a dot of gold in the middle of each C.

One more thing, wait a LONG while before putting on you clear topcoat. I got impatient and messed up one nail, the black will smudge against the white!

I found some DIY's on Pinterest that will give you a good visual of the process
as well as alternate options:

And here are a few of my faves I spotted (pun intended) on Pinterest while I was stalking out the prey...

This one from Teen Vogue is so cute with the pink layer and then the pastel spots.

And I like this chic leopard version too, two shades of white and silver perfection.

Have you tried this trend yet? What do you think?

If you have pictures of your leopard print version feel free to post them on
my Facebook page: The Fashion Palate,
I'd love to see the variety!

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day!

I hope everyone has been enjoying the 3 day weekend with BBQs, Shopping, SALES and good food! Well good everything! I've been doing all the above and managed to squeeze some wine tasting in.

Take a look at my OOTD on Saturday

Wearing: The Limited polka dot sweater, H&M shorts and bubble necklace, The Cambridge Satchel Co, TOMS wedges, and my new Kate Spade New York radio belt I got for 40% during their Outlet Memorial Day sale.

I'm continuing my weekend with a marathon session of the new Netflix season on Arrested Development. Me and my hubby are down to the last 5 episodes.

I HAD to have Bluth inspired snacks while watching of course.

Bluth's Original Frozen Banana, because there's always money in the banana stand.
And homemade lemonade!

Inspired by Arrested Development, I left a little something in the refrigerator.
Just don't be surprised at what's inside. ;)

Surprise, surprise, even my furbabies are relaxing it up.

The Cookie dreams of laying out on the beach.

No matter what you are doing today, have a good one!

Gilt City SF Warehouse Sale

I made it out to the city for my second Gilt City Warehouse Sale over the weekend.

It's always nice to spend a day in San Francisco, shop and eat some GREAT food.

For those of you that haven't heard of a Gilt City sale, it's basically but in person.  Lot's of designer pieces for marked down prices. You can find a D&G blazer for around $200 or Prada men dress shoes for $250, which isn't terrible seeing how most of these things go for thousands of dollars. There are still many cheaper deals to be found as well, but these go fast, so if a Gilt City event comes in your town next time, make sure to purchase tickets for the earliest shopping slot available! ;)

Meet my sidekicks, Giambattista Valli and Jason Wu
Both were under $200.

Mark & James for Badgley Mischka
Gold wedges with ankle strap bows for $89.
I had a Cinderella moment...and not the good one,
the evil-step-sister-can't-fit-into-that-blasted-shoe kind of moment!

The perfect rainy day boot!
Rain boots (zips up along the back)
Kate Spade New York $39!

Hmmm...What's in the bag you say?
After all that I ended up with one solid piece.
What? I'm saving for shoes. You know the kind that actually fits!

Here's a peek....gradient checkered sequins. OOC!

This fancy thing is designed by Plenty by Tracy Reese
Officially added that to my tiny TR sequin collection for $39!

Not a bad deal at all.

What's the best fashion deal you've score to this date?

Mel for Forever 21 Collection

I don't think you're ready for this jelly...

Jelly accessories have made a come back this year, from handbags, wallets, cosmetic pouches to shoes. Especially these cute ones created for Forever 21 by Mel Dreamed by Melissa. Melissa the brand has a super cute aesthetic when it comes to designing jelly shoes and great collaborations, have you see then Jason Wu Melissa shoes? So cute!

The latest collab is with Forever 21 and these are so affordable (all of them are under $22.80!) and perfect for summer. If your wondering about the comfort level...well they are flats and made of rubber so it's not the most comfort you will get from a sandal, but they are def doable. I found the ankle strapped and flats to be the most comfortable and the bow slide on sandals being fine for about 5 hours and then its time to kick up your heels. But fashion isn't necessarily comfortable!

Grab a pair while you can!

Here's a link to Mel by Forever 21 to get your shopping on stat!

I snagged a pair of the clear Bow-Accented Sandals for $19.80. Are you jelly?

Do you have a favorite? Or are you over jellies?

3.1 Phillip Lim for Target: The Preview!

Image from @DusteeJenkins on Twitter. The VP of PR at Target.

Ahhh!!! Are you squealing with excitement over the now much anticipated collaboration of 3.1 Phillip Lim and Target? I am! First it was this video with the designer and the sneak peaks..."the collection will include more than 100 items, ranging in price from $19.99-$299.99 with most items under $49.99."

Twitter was raging with conversations about the first looks that a few Editors in New York got to preview on May 14th.

And now this image from The Wall Street Journal showcasing more sneak peaks.

The first thing that came to mind with the announcement of the collection coming to stores Sept. 15 2013, I wondered if Mr. Lim would complete the collection with handbags. And he is. Take a look at that gorgeous modern yellow handbag,
and for $35! Yippy!
I really hope the quality is good in person.

The sketches and ideas are exciting and I'm looking forward to "playing dress up" opening day of the collection. Looks like he is taking a lot influence directly from his high priced designer collection.
 I love that.

One more thing, take note non-single ladies,
Phillip Lim is designing pieces for the men too.
So you and your dude can look ultra awesome together.

What do you think? Will you be saving the date?

Nordstrom Rack: Beauty, Fashion & Accessory Bargains

Nordstrom Rack scores just in time for Mothers Day!
Thanks to my blogger buddy Tracy from Tracy's Notebook of Style she recently posted her finds at Nordstrom Rack. So I couldn't help myself and visited my local Nordstrom Rack as soon as I saw it.

Here's what I bought and also some more amazing steals & deals. Keep in mind these will all make great gifts for Mother's Day and also future birthday gifts. I had to stock up. You'll see why...

Beauty Finds!

Stilla eyeshadow and lip gloss. I loved this neutral shade, easy enough to please a mom and the colors are a makeup bag essential. $7.97 ain't bad either!

A little something for myself, I could not resist this candy colored palette by NYX. It's called "Spring Fling" and it was only $14.97. The packaging is way pretty too. These colors will be great to wear into the summer as well.
Fashion Scores!

I love a great Kate Spade New York deal! I got these colorful trouser socks with fun sayings on them. I will def be kicking up my heels in these socks after a long day of baking, $9.97 for a pack of three, no brainer.

For $14.97 how could I not buy three? Like I said stock up for future gifts!
These will impress for sure. And the pink one is mine :D

And more!

There was also more KSNY jewelry on clearance, clear crystal-like drop earrings for under $20
and a "gemstone" locket necklace for $34! So cute.

KSNY knee high socks glittery pink or pink and orange cashmere for $14.97.

Urban Decay neon polish set was $28 now $11.97.

Love these colors.

And last but not least Ted Baker. A bit more on the pricier end but still quite the deal for such great quality. It's longer than TB's usual wallet and lined in french bulldog print, this clutch would make a great gift for any fashionista!

What did you think of my finds? Any favorites?
