Prabal Gurung x Target

Finally the day has arrived. After staying up late last night to shop the shoe selection (exclusives), which was very successful might I add, I was so excited to go in store and try everything on.
You can shop the collection online here: http://tgt.biz/Y27n7g

(*note: I took this photo AFTER 9am, still stocked!)

For shopping reference I tried everything on I could in a size XS and size 2 and shoe size 7.5, I'm 5'3 and I noticed the clothes do run true to size. So without further adieu, here I am playing dress up in Prabal Gurung for Target.

Tops:

This lace overlay top looks sooo much better on in person than in the lookbook!
I thought I would hate it, but it's so lovely.

Cute pebled racerback tanks for $20!

I like it, it felt great but the print wasn't really me.

Super pretty ruffle front blouse!

Cute! I like this! It will def. go with a lot, skirts, bright colored pants, shorts, you name it.

I like this blazer in theory, but it still felt big on me. Notice the second photo I'm doing the floral blazer over the floral long sleeve tee. Just for kicks.

The fun peplum top, but very boxy on top and short on the waist, just not comfortable.

Pleasantly surprised with the black on black lace blouse, but felt too dark for the spring.

Dresses:
The pleated bow dress was adorable, but I can't really get passed the "sad" bow. What do you think?

No on the "dress with full skirt." The skirt is awkward and too much fabric, also very static clingy.

Shoes:

I bought these ankle strap wedges in apple red online in a 7.5 so I had to check to make sure I got the right one! It fits!

I ordered the middle, ankle strap pump in black! LOVE.

Accessories:

The accessories weren't even out while I was there, the lady had just started taking them out of the boxes so I was lucky to get the only silver short crystal teardrop necklace!
*Please note: The short necklace and the bib necklace are pretty much the same length, the difference is the bib has a leather cord and the short has a silver one. If you have a hard time deciding, I recommend the Short Silver, it was more durable. The leather rope on the Bib version and the lobster claw and certain parts started coming loose after I was trying it on!

I was def more excited than he was about the necklace.

Overall, the accessories/shoes really won me over! I am a bit sad the one dress I really wanted to try (Floral Crush print) was all gone in seconds, so I never had the chance to try it on. Maybe it's for the best?

What did you end up buying? Any favorites, must-have items in your opinion?

  1. How did you think the ankle strap heels fit? I'm normally a snug 7/loose 7.5 in Target heels but a 7.5/8 in their flat sandals, so I went with the 7.5 online...but I'm reading other reviews saying they run big? Would love to hear your thoughts, I'm bummed if they won't fit!

    1. Hi Mrs in Training. The ankle straps fit true to size. I'm usually a 7.5 or 8, I find I usually have to get an 8 in open toe sandals (longer toes) but not with this one. I hope they fit!

  2. Thanks for sharing The Fashion Palate! I love that top on you and I want one pair of each shoe! ;) I like the length of that blazer, but it doesn't look too flattering.

    1. Thanks Kaps! The shoes were great! Excited to get them in the mail this week. The blazer was just not cool. ;)

  3. Overall how did you feel about the Floral Crush blazer? I'm usually a size 2 for most things (5.6, 117lbs) and while I hesitated between sizes, I ended up going with the XS (thank god) as I remembered how large the Missoni collection ran, even the XS's were rather big. The Floral crush blazer looked nice & fitted on the model on the Target site but in reality, it seems much looser as per your pics. What's your take on that item in terms of sizing and color? Also, did you get to see or try the sweatshirt in First Date Print?

    1. I wasn't crazy about it to be honest Blablarella. It was boxy. Also too big on me esp in the waist area. I tried the xs and still too big, the sleeves were a bit long too. But it might just look great on your frame, I feel like xs would be your size in this item! If not you could always alter it.That's the only item other than the red dress and peplum that really threw me off. Nope, no sweatshirts at my location. Hope that helps!

  4. Thank you The Fashion Palate for this awesome review and your helpful answer. After reading your review as well as others, it seems that the lookbook pics as well as the Target site pics are rather deceiving in terms of sizing. A lot of people agree that most items are just way oversized (needless to point out how ridiculously huge and "ballooney" the full skirt dresses are, I mean seriously????). Looks like the peplum top and blazer in Floral Crush I bought online will have to be altered, because at the end of the day, the print is too beautiful to pass!

    1. Glad I could help! I can't help to laugh at myself in that red dress, its so big! Totally agree with you on the floral crush print, I just had to have something in that print, I thought the long sleeve shirt was perfect. :D

  5. LOVE the way you organized your post Francie!! I really wish my store had that lace overlay top, I def. would have bought that. That last dress is sooo HUGE on you, I guess it is running a bit large ;-) I also like seeing how different the store displays are, like the jewelry, and all of the clutches at my stores were hanging in the shoe dept. of all things.

    1. Thanks Tracy. The overlay top was gorgeous, I like how the lace sleeves kind of pouf out! It makes me feel all high-fashiony in some weird way. lol. It's funny how big the red dress looks on me, it actually fit pretty snug on the top, but somehow waist down it just didn't have the pouf, it fell flat and it seemed really long.

  6. I didn't end up going because we got a snow storm yesterday... figured it wasn't worth it at the time. Honestly, I will probably go this week and whatever is left over, perhaps it was "meant for me" haha! I LOVE that black and white dress on you and that necklace you got is so pretty!

    1. Oh no Rachel sorry to hear that. Did you end up buying online instead? It really did help seeing things in person though. I thought I would hate the blk/wht lace blouse but I ended up taking it home with me! So far the necklace is my big winner!

  7. awesome review! the black and white dress was not at our Target, but in the lookbook, the bow looks happier, but in real life, it looks sad. it does look good on you. they carried the ankle strap wedges at my Target, but i decided against it when i saw the strappy heels. i didn't see the jewelry at mine. i was mad they didn't have the tote!

    1. Thanks Lydia! Yes I had a feeling the dress would look different in person, it was disappointing that they made the bow so lifeless. The bow was the main attraction! The tote was an online exclusive that's why it's not in stores, it's still available: http://tgt.biz/WeIx4G but if you want to see it in person you never know people might start making returns soon, I would check your Target in a week.

  9. I shopped online and in store (and wrote my usual review) and I was really impressed by the Floral Crush pieces and the heels. Although I found the shoes to run a size big, they were pretty comfortable and looked chic with all the clothing. The red dress with black panels did not work on me (was awkward in the waist), although I loved the Floral Crush version because the print won me over. I'm looking forward to receiving my online order soon! Thank you for your awesome photos!
