Sole Mates

I just ran across an awesome contest from Barneys New York today while I was checking out Jessica Alba's ensemble from the debut of Narciso Rodriguez Fall Shoe Collection.

Anyways the CONTEST! You can enter on Barneys New York Facebook page to try and win $5,000 for a shopping spree by entering a Perfect Pairs Love Letter. Kind of an odd and confusing title, at first I thought they wanted a letter about finding your first awesome shoe...I know... But it's actually about how you found your perfect match in love!

You should enter it, I love love stories. (You can only enter though Barneys Facebook page-see link above!)

I'll share mine with you:

I met my SOLE mate in 10th grade Espanol Dos class, never once sitting next to this handsome guy the entire year did I ever really engage with him, unless you count the many times we all had to play Scrabble (Spanish Scrabble at that!) together or I passed him my lapiz!

So when my friend at the end of year grabbed my arm and told me I was going to marry this guy, I was thrown for a loop...But he was right!

We are each others first loves and we saved each other from ever feeling what heartbreak was like.  I've only known love in my life and my husband just like in 10th grade class and today, has always been my pair. :)

Ultra ULTA Haul.

Ulta is just one those beauty shopping havens one can get lost in. Here's my shopping haul from a recent trip:

Left to Right:

1. Simple eye makeup remover
    - Never tried it before but I have tried Simple facial cleansing wipes & moisturizer and have been happy with the results of the products. Looking forward to seeing how this one plays out.

2. 100% Pure french lavendar body cream
-My fave! I loooove this body cream. I have always bought the travel version but I thought I'd splurge finally and just buy the full size. Saves me money in the long run!

3. Blowpro blow dry lotion
   - Another favorite brand of mine! I use the Blow Out Spray everyday, it gives subtle volume and hold, without that stickiness of hair spray. I'm trying this out ASAP.

4. Paul Mitchell Spray Wax:
   - I started using this years ago but stopped, it's actually my husband's. It's like mousse that sprays out into your hair and you just kind of scrunch it up and style as you like for manageable hold that you can change throughout the day.

5. Pop Clip in color strips in purple:
  - I was feeling adventurous and so I just HAD to try a pop of purple in my long locks without the commitment and cost of dying! (Only $10 per extension.)

So many new things to try out this week, I'll post updates!

Hi-Hat Cucpakes Recipe: Trial & error never tasted so good.

I tested out a new recipe recently. I found it on the Martha Stewart website, its called Hi Hat Cupcakes. Leave to Martha to make this baking task incredibly difficult! Hah!

Anyways it came out tasty but the meringue was a bit difficult. Didn't quite get the height I was looking for but it sure looked and tasted yummy.

And this is how little miss perfect Martha does it:

As you can see, I got really close! :D

Chocolate dipped cupcakes, speaks for itself really. Just think of those chocolate dipped ice cream cones we knew and loved as kids. Just minus the ice cream for meringue and replace the cone with dark chocolate cake. YUM.
