It's a Brad,Brad World: "Haute in Hollywood"

Before I start out with "It's a Brad, Brad World", the newest Bravo reality TV show, I just want to point out a few of the major differences & similarities from The Rachel Zoe Project  & It's a Brad, Brad World.
I'm assuming if you are reading this you already watched The RZP while Brad Goreski was her style director.

  • Brad & Gary's (his partner) relationship is already so much more likable than Rachel & Rodger relationship although there are a few similarities such as the "over it" partner and the fabulous better half. (I've been watching since the beginning of the series and I still don't believe for one second that Rodger really likes to watch sports and hang out with the dudes, rather than shop with Rach. I also still think Rodg is gay, which in that case would make the two couples more similar than I thought.) ;)
  • Brad eats. Rachel, not so much. The proof is in the pudding.
  • Brad styles his own clients on the show. Rachel has assistants to do that.
  • They are both self indulgent & aware, but I like Brad better, he does it more in a cute, not afraid to make fun of myself sort of way.
While watching the show, I was super nervous for his "assistant for the day" Monica at the photo shoot. She really screwed up. I totally agree on the packing up as you go along so that way the Stylist can leave when ready. I mean, you are their assistant for a reason. Sucks a hundred more times for her though because it was captured on TV. Good luck girl, I hope you learned your lesson.

Back to the "assistant of the day" thing, that's so weird! I'm surprised he doesn't already have like a million friends who would kill to be his assistant. Call me Brad. I'm ready.

I love his pets and how they each choose their favorite. Totally reminds me of my cats, one orange one black and how they both wait for them to at the door. Shoot, Brad is already so much more likable than said other reality shows. It's also exciting to see someone make it on their own in the styling biz. It's kind of inspiring.

To nit pick a little, what was that whole finding a dress bit for Keri Hilson all about? It was obvious from the beginning that he knew she would pick the Versace dress, and with the whole Versace team at the styling sesh, how could she not pick it! I mean how awkward would have that been? Actually, I kind of wanted to see it happen. She look amazing though.

I don't like scripted drama, but I loved the fashion shoot scene! More fashion less of that other hullababloo. We already like you Brad, we just want to see you work, so WERQ it.

Keep up the blond ambition Brad!

Jeremys Department Store: A True Tale of an $8 Zac Posen Dress.

Happy New Year everyone! It's good to be back.

I started off my new year with a bang for my buck!

Yeah that's a Louboutin.

Laundry by Shelli Segal. A shimmering white cocktail dress $30.

Zac Posen!

Bought it!

This one is so pretty for $29.

Allen Schwartz Prive

Let me start by saying how incredible of a store Jeremys Department Store is. They have two locations, one in San Francisco and one in Berkely, Ca. After getting a tip from a fellow fashion friend of a jaw dropping 90% off designer sale items-sale, I knew I had to be there. I missed the first day of the sale, which meant that night I dreamt of shopping at this made up Jeremys store in my mind! I woke up and told my husband, who gave in and decided to treat me to a day of shopping in the city.

Jeremys Department Store truly ended up being quite a gem. It's just my kind of store too. I'm a big fan of Crossroads and discount, or consignment stores, and I also have A LOT of patience to shop through racks. They also have a huge selection of men's clothing. It's worth the hunt ladies and gents!

So I ended up trying quite a few articles of designer clothing, such as Laundry by Shelli Segal, and Zac Posen. Not to mention spotting a few classic black Louboutin pumps (for under $200!). I ended up with some luck, I was looking for a sparkly new years eve kind of dress (you know the kind that sparkles and glitters and screams look at me I'm a walking tinsel tree) for my birthday coming up in just a few days. And did I find it.

A Zac Posen "Shimmering Metallic Eve" cocktail dress nonetheless.
Sure it had a few frays, which you may notice in the pics, but nothing a little TLC can't fix. I'll post pictures of the dress fully restored this weekend as I wear it for my birthday party.

Jeremys price tag suggests it retailed at $625 (also saw it for sale on ebay stating that it's $2,400 and bidding starts at $416.) Jeremys originally priced it at $159, on top of that it was marked down to $80. Did I mention the 90% off sale factor? Drum roll please....which means that days sale price cost me merely $8. For my coffee addicts, that equals to two grande iced zebra mocha's, thank you.

Now if you don't mind I'm going to continue to drink my iced coffee drink and watch my bank account grow as I continue to find many more fashionable ways to save money this 2012!

If anyone plans a future trip to Jeremys, holler.

BareMinerals lip collection- "Pretty Amazing" (11/29/11)

The "Pretty Amazing" Lip Collection by BareMinerals is actually pretty amazing!

It's hard to get the right lip colors in a set of four. I hate how I end up just liking one of them, but with this collection they are so different and pretty. They also make great gifts to friends!

Read all about my review of each color on Mode:

The Look for Less: I Scream for Ice Skates

Totally impractical cray cray shoes are always seen on the most daring of fashionistas. We love to ridicule them for wearing them or praise them for making it werq...in the right situations or events.

I think Ice Skate Shoes are a crazy idea and somehow very intriguing and kind of well, cute! If you are in the market for some over the top ice skates, or just want to glide around like you are an ice skating queen than these shoes are for you. This would be also be a fun idea for a holiday party theme! And today is your lucky day, for a look for less option for the Ice Princess in all of us.

Nutella Swirl Brownie Bites

Who else is baking up a storm this week? Yep it's that time of year, and with Christmas approaching (like in a minute) we all could use a speedy recipe.

Nutella Swirl Brownie Bites, now here's a yummy something that you can whip together for a last minute party or two. The two main ingredients are Chocolate & Nutella, need I say more?

Well I guess I kind of have to say more if you want the proper recipe! But I won't blame you if you don't make it to the mixing portion of the recipe and just eat the chocolate and Nutella on its own. :D

If you have the will power, stick it through this short, easy recipe, you wont be disappointed!

Bakers Chocolate..must resist..

Dollop of Nutella for swirls...and some for me.

Recipe adapted from: Just Everyday Me & Broma Bakery:
(Makes about 24 brownie bites)

4 (one ounce) squares of Bakers unsweetened chocolate
3/4 cup butter
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour
1/2 cup Nutella

  1. Heat oven to 350°F.
  2. Line a 24 mini muffin tin with muffin liners.
  3. Microwave chocolate and butter in microwaveable bowl on high for 2 minutes or until butter is melted. (If you a have a melting pot, like I do, use this instead.) Stir until chocolate is completely melted.
  4. Put the sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add the butter/chocolate mixture to the sugar and stir until blended. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat until smooth. Gradually add flour and mix well.
  5. Use a small ice cream scoop to divide the batter into the muffin tins.
  6. Put a small dollop of nutella on top of each brownie bite. Take a toothpick and swirl the nutella into the brownie.
  7. Bake from 12-15 minutes.

Yum, I can smell them already.

Totally caught hoarding the black and whites at the free Sprinkles station. ;)
Because sometimes its hard to just choose one.

Taste exactly like an chocolate dipped ice cream cone minus the ice cream. It's delicious

5. Cotton Candy: American Cupcake (San Francisco)

Pretty infused cotton candy blue frosting on vanilla cake. Reminds me of a ride on a ferris wheel.

So let's eat cake!

Tutorial: Peppermint Mocha Nails

Peppermint Mocha Nails.

Are you already sold?

Once I heard about these, I knew I had to do a tutorial to share with all my loyal followers. I love fun nail styles and I'm never afraid to try something unusual. This one just hit the mark with me, mocha's are kind of what I live for, and peppermint gives it that special holiday kick! Why not try your favorite Christmas drink on your nails? Since painting my nails this way, I swear I've been craving mocha's non stop. No joke!

And by popular demand, the Peppermint Mocha Nail Tutorial:

Step One:
Sephora: White, OPI: Skinny Dip'n In lake Michg'n, Hello Kitty Sephora: Red Sparkle

Pick out three nail colors and a toothpick, a mocha (or light nude if you prefer a latte) tint, white for the whipped cream and Red Sparkles for the sprinkles. Drool.

Step Two:

Paint all nails with two coats of your Mocha color, one coat if yours is darker than mine.

Step Three:

On my last coat of mocha I quickly add a tiny drop of white color. * You got to be quick on this step, so work on one nail by one.

Step Four:

Use a toothpick to swirl your "whipped cream" with the mocha. Do this to each nail: one by one.

Step Five:

Use your "sprinkles" and paint just the tips with this red sparkle color. I went with one layer and didn't try to make it in a perfect line. I like my sprinkles scattered. And if you prefer EXTRA sprinkles, well I won't judge, just add another layer or two, and your set!

Easy peasy right? If you are a professional barista you could go that extra mile and create coffee art!

Now your nails are festive and will be the envy of all your friends at your next holiday party! Share this tutorial with your gal pals, after all its Christmas time.

Jessica Simpson also makes a an open toe pump version with a pop of bright red! Super fun for $98 at Macy's. And you know Macy's is always having a "One Day Sale" like every week right? Plus those coupons in the mail, that would make quite the good deal, just sayin'.

Fashion Hunters: "Generosity Gems"

The Fashion Hunters are putting together a Charity event.
Invasion of closets...BEGIN!

So this is when Kelly Bensimon comes in. We see her apartment again..(seen it on The Real Housewives of New York) and then she starts talking crazy. No, I'm just kidding, Kelly actually seemed sweet. She does have an amazing closet set up I must say. She gives the Second Time Around gals the white Jill Stuart dress she wore while causing crazy person drama on one of  the RHONY reunion shows. Charity work has never looked so glamourous.
(kellykillorenbensimon.com image)

Next celebrity closet, Alexa Ray Joel. She ends up having super cute clothes, she gives away a fun pair of Prada mary jane leopard print pumps and a BCBG dress she wore in her music video. Very very cute items.

Sorry No Photo of her in her dress, the only thing I could dig up was her music video "Notice Me" but her voice was not kind to my ears and I didn't think the dress was worth showing while torturing everyone with her song while reading my blog! But still, cute girl!

One last piece from Peter Som, who has dressed Michelle Obama, and Scarlett Johansen. They pick a black and white dress worn by Christina Ricci in 2011 retails at $1,500, in hopes that the classic look and Audrey Hepburn-eiss style of it will sell to their clients.
(style.com image)

Now that everything is 'collected and buyers are gathered its auction time!

Peter som starts off at $1,100 but there are no takers until they offer it at $700, tough crowd. Kelly Bensimon's original handbag, and both her dresses sell for a few hundo each, and  Alexa's BCBG dress sells for 1,000! A little wine goes a long way in getting customers to buy buy buy.

They just barely reach their charity goal of $6,000 with a JLO dress a consigner sold to Second Time Around a few episodes ago.

(styleblazer.com image)
Don't know why they were expecting to get more than $3,000 for this dress, after all this dates way back to when she was dating P Diddy, or Puff whatever he was back then.

One more episode to go!
