Fashion Hunters: "Eco-Fashion Party"

First stop: home base, Second Time Around.Gorgeous Gucci pumps retailed $1300. Consigner wants $600 and that's not gonna happen, the Fashion Hunters generously give her 50% split on profits. Super sucks that she never wore it. Ugh I would kick myself, but I would never buy that expensive of an item and never wear it! Matter of fact, if I ever buy a shoe that costs over $1000 it's because I reaaaally wanted it and would wear it to death.

Next stop: Eco-Friendly house tour.
Let me tell you this isn't hippie stuff, it costs a lot to be Eco-friendly. The Eco-friendly home owning consigner has an Eco-friendly-not-so-much collection of clothes. D&G polka dot black suit (shop price $500) and also a gorgeous $5000 Roland Nivelais sapphire sequin dress! Hellloo, Obsessed with that color right now!

Tara gets ambitious and enthused after her Eco-friendly house go around. And so she has this crazy good  idea for an Eco-friendly party at the shop. But she just ends up getting a bit crazy. Anything but good. The party turns out just fine, of course, except for the fact that (did anyone else notice?) Wilson was wearing suede shoes. He says in reply to Ambria's compliment on his green shoes, yeah "I'm going green..." green suede. (So are these recycled suede shoes?) Hmmm...

It's Just a Cavalli.

Lets not forget the "collector" who shows up to consign a Just Cavalli jacket. Not Roberto Cavalli, JUST Cavalli. So funny to see the back and forth between the consigner and Wilson. (Really though, why do these people spend so much on JUST the designers low end clothes, and expect so much when they go to resell?) This is the response the "collector" gives to Wilson, "So lets JUST say, $1800." After a long discussion on what's JUST this and what's JUST that, he ends up not selling the jacket. I wonder if he tried selling it on Ebay.

*Side note:  Did a little research and the Just Cavalli Studded leather jacket was on sale on The Outnet & Niemen Marcus for $868 and it's also sold out.

Ok, over Just Cavalli now.

What I learned: Caterpillars are never over worked in the making of Eco-Friendly silk clothing.

Next week on Fashion Hunters: VALENTINO! And possibly over worked silk making Caterpillars. Awe.

Fab Five Friday

I'm currently obsessed with jewel tones, specifically emerald and sapphire. They look awesome on their own and even more amazing mashed up together. Rich, sophisticate and inviting, you will definitely people please in these tones.

These are intense hair clips! They would look great adorned alongside a sideways bun or up do.

Just like a ring pop only the band can also be enjoyed, these would be great for a holiday party.

Emerald J Brand Skinnies of course! Pair it up with a Sapphire blue chunky knit sweater and some black sequined booties and your ready for cocktail hour.

Speaking of cocktail hour, don't forget your clutch! This one is to die for, and of course its Kate Spade New York.

Last but not least, a show stopping, jaw dropping, sequined sapphire blue one shoulder dress by Rachel Zoe.

Fresh to death.

I hope this got you in the mood to party, because it definitely had that affect on me!

Fashion Hunters: "Designer Squabbles and Hot Male Models"

"I barely eat." says the diva Wilhelmina model Bentley. A consigner brings in a bunch of dirty party designer pieces that beg to differ from that statement. Second time around gals say no way unless she brings them back dry cleaned. Fail Sale!

Bentley then returns this time with freshly dry cleaned clothing. She's told she will only get 220 dollars, Bentley basically says that at this price she's been raped as she gives in and sells both items.
Seriously.

Next.

Wilson- get to work on the Men's section already, we are already 5 episodes into the season! Wilson's goal: to see a six foot male model walk through the door who wears "leather underwear." (Shrugs).Wilson seems to have a limited eye on the male clothes rack.  Tara makes some vaild points that his picks only appeal to one kind of man....one with "flava." How very kind of her.

Ugh, Ambria has to bring Wilson along to a home visit consigning sesh. She's not too thrilled (I sympathize) which means entertainment is probable. They end up collecting a few crazy high fashion Jeremy Scott pieces from a male model who got these for free from walking in his shows. Pretty cool but I wonder who would actually buy a shirt with telephone number buttons on them. I don't get it.

Ambria and Wilson also scored fashion show tickets to Jeffrey Fashion Cares and over 1k of fashion goods.

One last parting gift, Wilson seems to have achieved his said goal from earlier on - six foot male model wearing (not quite leather underwear but close) speedos at the fashion show. Hmm maybe we will give him another chance.

Color Block Nails

Color blocking is on trend and not just for clothes!

I decided to create a fun fashion statement with two of my favorite colors, pink and navy. Nail color blocking is super easy to do. Just follow my simple tutorial here.

Step 1: Start with two of your favorite complementing colors. I went with  "Arm Candy" by Sephora OPI and  "Mezmerised" by Essie.

Step 2: Paint half of you finger nails with one of your colors, making sure to alternate from the bottom of one nail to the top on the next nail as seen here:

* Side Note: I found that using your polish brush sideways helped to keep the halfway line of color straight.
Step 3: Fill in the rest with the second choice of color on both hands.

And here you have it a color blocking-statement making nail art!
I'm loving pink and red color blocks, I'll be trying that next!

Fab Five Friday

Making shredded pork tostadas with my husband was fun and delicious! Best thing I ever ate status.

Super cute Steve Madden "Dudette Ice" flats. I imagine wearing these with a flowy skirt & over sized sweater.

Gold, Cream and Stud Cuff. 'Nuff said.

Got my Harper's Guide in the mail this week. It was free because I purchased an item from their top ten list during September-being those Missoni for Target ballet flats.

And last but not least, a throw back Halloween costume. Are you a child of the 80s? Then you should know this one ;)

Have a great weekend!

Fashion Hunters: Road Trip!

Consigning fashion road trip to the Hamptons!

First up designer who got her start working with Coco Chanel, Jackie Rogers. Score!

They picked up a Jackie Rogers Ombre Dress (retail 5k),a gold dress (retail 5k) a neon gown (retail 3,500), and consigned all three pieces for charity.

Next Hampton victim, a friend of Second Time Around store manager Karina, Amy, she spills the best news ever, there's a vineyard that will be hosting a fashion mobile store! Oh heaven, how could get that sound any better? Oh here's how, Amy explains it, its like instead of a popsicle you get a stiletto.

Ambria scored Moschino colossal size 10 pumps for $150! Amy also busts out a sequined black and sapphire maxi skirt by Alberta Ferretti (normally priced at 3k. ) they got from her for selling price at 1k. Slap an Italian designer label on that and it sells like hotcakes, or like Alberta Ferretti..cakes...

Next stop, the vineyard fashion mobile party! The fashion mobile is actually called Styleliner. Basically every girls dream closet, filled of vintage jewelry. Ambria realizes she has a shopping problem and is quite depressed that she cant afford 500 dollars worth of jewelry like her fellow shop friend can. She says she could "shop and then die." Not sure what that means or what kind of cry for help that is.

Ok back to business,
Last consigner Amy #2 , Tom Ford for Gucci when Tom Ford was the creative director during '94 and '04, which means its a collectors piece (2k retail- shop price $600), and a Calypso caftan (shop price $160).

They scored 8k in revenue for their shop during this classy fashion hunting trip in the Hampton's!

Q:Trick or Treat? A:TREAT!

Homemade Peanut Butter Cups!

It's Halloween, is there a better day to reasonably stuff your face with candy?!

This year for Halloween, I'm actually celebrating it, usually a pizza, a scary movie and a handful of candy does the trick. But I decided to do things differently this year, two Halloween parties (and two costumes! Which I will post later),and homemade peanut butter cups. This delicious recipe can be found here: Homemade Peanut Butter Cups.

Let me tell you these are quick and easy to make and they taste better than the store bought brand! 100%.
I think it also helps that I used Ghirardelli milk chocolate, hey I go all out.

Try this recipe if your tooth is feeling extra sweet, and then sit back and enjoy the spooktacular night.

Melting Chocolate

Peanut Butter Mixture

Peanut Butter Filling

Topped with Chocolate

Deliciousness!

Fab Five Friday: Fashion Literature

This Fab Five Friday I chose to go with my top five fashion books. Some are inspiring, insightful ,or just beautiful to look at. I truly enjoyed and read/own each book, all are written by important people in the fashion industry, weather it be a stylist, fashion icon, mentor or just people in the know. These are my go-to when it comes to fashion, beauty or motivating book recommendations.

After all, you gotta learn from the best of them to "fake it to make it" and "make it work."

Cabinet of Dreams

Gold & Silver Safekeeper Mirrored Jewelry Cabinet by Lori Grenier

This has to take the cake when it comes to anniversary gifts. Jewelry is always nice, sure, but where are you going to put all that once you have it?

I was growing tired of my mini jewelry case and jewelry box duo. My necklaces and bracelets just wouldn't fit anymore, and then I saw this awesome full length mirror/secret jewelry cabinet and I haaaad to have it. It's all I could talk about after catching a glimpse of it in a style magazine I read over the summer.

Lucky for me this was my one year wedding anniversary gift.

This is definitely something I will keep forever. So clever and chic, and no clutter!

This cabinet keeps jewelry tarnish free for up to 25-40 years and holds around 350 pieces. It also locks with a vintage silver key. So it keeps my cats out of my goodies! The only thing is that the earring section is huge, and I don't wear earrings. Sad face. Buuut I changed that, so I can rest my headbands and feather hair clips in that designated area now.

Here's how I styled my accessory closet :

Fun right? I think I may have an excuse to buy more cocktail rings ;)

Fashion Hunters: "If The Shoe Fits"

Wow, ok lets just jump right into this one ladies and gents!

Last nights episode of Fashion Hunters starts off with a huge bang, deciphering Chanel handbags. Omg omg, I can hardly contain my excitement. A consigner brings in two bags both which she picked up at a garage sale for 5 bucks a pop!!! Second time around store managers bring in the senior accessory editor Dani Stahl from Nylon magazine, obvi an expert on knowing how to authenticate handbags. Also I guess Barney's ambassador had the day off? Back to the bags, the first bag is a knock off. Why? Because...

Authentic Chanel bags :

1. Hardware should say Chanel and made in France
2. Have a label inside the bag and should be well attached and look of quality
3. Stitching should look hand stitched
4. Metallic gold Chanel stamp matches the color of the hardware
5. Are made of quality leather and texture
6. CC's should feel smooth to the touch
AND a sure fire way to know if your Chanle bag is real:
Chanel handbags have a serial number sitcker in the bag.
Yums!

And guess what? Of course, the second garage sale handbag was for reals! How exciting for that seller, she made a profit total of 3,500 plus trade for pink glitter Louboutin pumps that she had an eye on at the store! Good for her.

Take a look for yourself

Remember last weeks preview about closets full of shoes and a podiatrist to the stars. Well I'm still sort of unclear about what that job entitles...

Ok ok so apparently the Podiatrist to the Stars Dr.Levine, this is a person who has hundreds of shoes, think Rachel Zoe but if she only styled shoes on celebrities. As a Podiatrist to the stars, she will also recommend what brands of shoes to wear for your foot type. Say you have wide feet, than Prada might be for you. Perhaps a modern day Wilma Flinstone would rock these.

Oh and Dr. Levine also gives foot facials....Hey it's her job!

Yeah go figure. Anyways whatever her job is, I want it! BTW, She only ended up parting with 6 pairs of shoes-ugh greedy.

Ohhh sweet goodness I love this show!

Breaking Down with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: "Tension While Relaxing"

Darn-We have to wait until next Monday for the much anticipated Pandora's engagement party!
Fiiione...

My favorite part of the commune bed tour was how Lisa was only talking to her friend Mohamed and completely ignoring his "25" year old robot girlfriend!

Today on RHOBH the girls get together at Adrienne Maloof's mansion for a completely relaxing drama free spa day. HAH.

Housewives Vs. Brandi- Round 2, Ready? Fight.

Blah blah blah- real gold sprinkled on top red velvet cake blah blah. yogurt bar with 12 assorted toppings, blah blah, 40,000 dollar spa technology, yadda yadaa-in home spray tan booth! Yes, already better than "Pam's" party!

Brandi is forced to apologize to Kyle for calling her sister Kim a crystal meth addict.
Wahh wahh- Brandi cries. Kyle apologizes for suggesting she correct her son for peeing on the grass. Brandi says that's not cool. Nothing is settled. Brandi cries some more and then Taylor proceeds to tell Brandi that she really should apologize to Kim for making such a huge accusation. Brandi defends her accusation and still really thinks Kim is on something. No one takes her side, Brandi hobbles out with her crutches and leaves the party early. The girls laugh "Don't let the door hit you on the way out."

Housewives-2, Brandi-0.

(Side competition: Adrienne wins best food at a party. Pam-you loose again, and we will never forgive you for the bread stick plate at Game Night. Stop spending all your money on Valentino and feed your "friends"!)

Sorry newbies Brandi and "Pam." Better luck next week.

On second thought we don't care about you two next week, the fight will have to wait- it's all about Pandora's party!

Rachel Roy Goodies

I heard about the Rachel Roy event happening in Macy's Valley Fair on Sunday from Mode Bay Area and I just had to check it out! I was not disappointed.

I enjoyed mini vanilla cupcakes dusted with gold glitter while perusing the new Rachel Roy fall collection. Rachel Roy accessories and handbags were showcased in mini pop up shows, and I had my eye makeup done by Urban Decay.

The best part was that there was a gift with any Rachel Roy purchase. Earrings, bracelets and rings just for shopping today. So I found this AHHmazing deal on this navy striped long sleeve top, previously 49.99, but today's price with added coupon came out to about 13.00! Score! Luckily there was one bracelet left up for grabs so I scooped that up too.

Gotta love a good deal by a great designer.

The RRR collection is 30% off right now, check it out!

And here's Rachel's top picks for Fall:

I'm loving the Wanderer Skirt, it hits so many trends and it's done just right, with navy pleats, and fair isle print, it's THE skirt for Fall. I also fell hard for the Caravan Sweater Dress. I tried it on during the Macy's event and it is comfy and cute and I love the colors incorporated in the print.

Three Green hearts: Goddess Hair Jewelry

I started wearing feather clips made by Three Green Hearts last summer, I picked them up at a local boutique. They are exquisite in person! Each  piece of handcrafted hair jewelry features at least two feathers, wood beads all secured on leather, which also come in an assortment of colors.
Recently they had a Facebook giveaway and all I had to do was pick a picture of my favorite feather clip and post it on their wall. As you can tell I was won of the winners. So excited to own another one these fab feather hair extensions.
As you can see, the peacock feathers are attached two leather strands that add a highlight to my hair color. I picked a light brown. You can pretty much clip this anyway in your hair, I like the way it looks tucked behind the ear.
I'm pretty crazy about them, they add a nice pop of surprise to a basic outfit. I like to keep it casual with my clothes when I 'm wearing one of these, it tends to give off a bohemian vibe.

This is the first Goddess Hair Jewelry from Three Green Hearts that I purchased. I love the polka dots, must have come from a very stylish bird!

Find some beautiful feathers to style in your own hair here:
http://threegreenhearts.mivamerchant.net/

One more thing, try to keep your prized Three Green Hearts feathers out of reach from little guys such as this one, they tend to accessorize occasionally.
