Q:Trick or Treat? A:TREAT!

Homemade Peanut Butter Cups!

It's Halloween, is there a better day to reasonably stuff your face with candy?!

This year for Halloween, I'm actually celebrating it, usually a pizza, a scary movie and a handful of candy does the trick. But I decided to do things differently this year, two Halloween parties (and two costumes! Which I will post later),and homemade peanut butter cups. This delicious recipe can be found here: Homemade Peanut Butter Cups.

Let me tell you these are quick and easy to make and they taste better than the store bought brand! 100%.
I think it also helps that I used Ghirardelli milk chocolate, hey I go all out.

Try this recipe if your tooth is feeling extra sweet, and then sit back and enjoy the spooktacular night.

Fab Five Friday: Fashion Literature

This Fab Five Friday I chose to go with my top five fashion books. Some are inspiring, insightful ,or just beautiful to look at. I truly enjoyed and read/own each book, all are written by important people in the fashion industry, weather it be a stylist, fashion icon, mentor or just people in the know. These are my go-to when it comes to fashion, beauty or motivating book recommendations.

After all, you gotta learn from the best of them to "fake it to make it" and "make it work."

Cabinet of Dreams

Gold & Silver Safekeeper Mirrored Jewelry Cabinet by Lori Grenier

This has to take the cake when it comes to anniversary gifts. Jewelry is always nice, sure, but where are you going to put all that once you have it?

I was growing tired of my mini jewelry case and jewelry box duo. My necklaces and bracelets just wouldn't fit anymore, and then I saw this awesome full length mirror/secret jewelry cabinet and I haaaad to have it. It's all I could talk about after catching a glimpse of it in a style magazine I read over the summer.

Lucky for me this was my one year wedding anniversary gift.

This is definitely something I will keep forever. So clever and chic, and no clutter!

This cabinet keeps jewelry tarnish free for up to 25-40 years and holds around 350 pieces. It also locks with a vintage silver key. So it keeps my cats out of my goodies! The only thing is that the earring section is huge, and I don't wear earrings. Sad face. Buuut I changed that, so I can rest my headbands and feather hair clips in that designated area now.

Here's how I styled my accessory closet :

Fun right? I think I may have an excuse to buy more cocktail rings ;)

Fashion Hunters: "If The Shoe Fits"

Wow, ok lets just jump right into this one ladies and gents!

Last nights episode of Fashion Hunters starts off with a huge bang, deciphering Chanel handbags. Omg omg, I can hardly contain my excitement. A consigner brings in two bags both which she picked up at a garage sale for 5 bucks a pop!!! Second time around store managers bring in the senior accessory editor Dani Stahl from Nylon magazine, obvi an expert on knowing how to authenticate handbags. Also I guess Barney's ambassador had the day off? Back to the bags, the first bag is a knock off. Why? Because...

Authentic Chanel bags :

1. Hardware should say Chanel and made in France
2. Have a label inside the bag and should be well attached and look of quality
3. Stitching should look hand stitched
4. Metallic gold Chanel stamp matches the color of the hardware
5. Are made of quality leather and texture
6. CC's should feel smooth to the touch
AND a sure fire way to know if your Chanle bag is real:
Chanel handbags have a serial number sitcker in the bag.

And guess what? Of course, the second garage sale handbag was for reals! How exciting for that seller, she made a profit total of 3,500 plus trade for pink glitter Louboutin pumps that she had an eye on at the store! Good for her.

Take a look for yourself

Remember last weeks preview about closets full of shoes and a podiatrist to the stars. Well I'm still sort of unclear about what that job entitles...

Ok ok so apparently the Podiatrist to the Stars Dr.Levine, this is a person who has hundreds of shoes, think Rachel Zoe but if she only styled shoes on celebrities. As a Podiatrist to the stars, she will also recommend what brands of shoes to wear for your foot type. Say you have wide feet, than Prada might be for you. Perhaps a modern day Wilma Flinstone would rock these.

Oh and Dr. Levine also gives foot facials....Hey it's her job!

Yeah go figure. Anyways whatever her job is, I want it! BTW, She only ended up parting with 6 pairs of shoes-ugh greedy.

Ohhh sweet goodness I love this show!

Breaking Down with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: "Tension While Relaxing"

Darn-We have to wait until next Monday for the much anticipated Pandora's engagement party!

My favorite part of the commune bed tour was how Lisa was only talking to her friend Mohamed and completely ignoring his "25" year old robot girlfriend!

Today on RHOBH the girls get together at Adrienne Maloof's mansion for a completely relaxing drama free spa day. HAH.

Housewives Vs. Brandi- Round 2, Ready? Fight.

Blah blah blah- real gold sprinkled on top red velvet cake blah blah. yogurt bar with 12 assorted toppings, blah blah, 40,000 dollar spa technology, yadda yadaa-in home spray tan booth! Yes, already better than "Pam's" party!

Brandi is forced to apologize to Kyle for calling her sister Kim a crystal meth addict.
Wahh wahh- Brandi cries. Kyle apologizes for suggesting she correct her son for peeing on the grass. Brandi says that's not cool. Nothing is settled. Brandi cries some more and then Taylor proceeds to tell Brandi that she really should apologize to Kim for making such a huge accusation. Brandi defends her accusation and still really thinks Kim is on something. No one takes her side, Brandi hobbles out with her crutches and leaves the party early. The girls laugh "Don't let the door hit you on the way out."

Housewives-2, Brandi-0.

(Side competition: Adrienne wins best food at a party. Pam-you loose again, and we will never forgive you for the bread stick plate at Game Night. Stop spending all your money on Valentino and feed your "friends"!)

Sorry newbies Brandi and "Pam." Better luck next week.

On second thought we don't care about you two next week, the fight will have to wait- it's all about Pandora's party!

Rachel Roy Goodies

I heard about the Rachel Roy event happening in Macy's Valley Fair on Sunday from Mode Bay Area and I just had to check it out! I was not disappointed.

I enjoyed mini vanilla cupcakes dusted with gold glitter while perusing the new Rachel Roy fall collection. Rachel Roy accessories and handbags were showcased in mini pop up shows, and I had my eye makeup done by Urban Decay.

The best part was that there was a gift with any Rachel Roy purchase. Earrings, bracelets and rings just for shopping today. So I found this AHHmazing deal on this navy striped long sleeve top, previously 49.99, but today's price with added coupon came out to about 13.00! Score! Luckily there was one bracelet left up for grabs so I scooped that up too.

Gotta love a good deal by a great designer.

The RRR collection is 30% off right now, check it out!

And here's Rachel's top picks for Fall:

I'm loving the Wanderer Skirt, it hits so many trends and it's done just right, with navy pleats, and fair isle print, it's THE skirt for Fall. I also fell hard for the Caravan Sweater Dress. I tried it on during the Macy's event and it is comfy and cute and I love the colors incorporated in the print.

Its all about the glitter! And I LOVE this blend of emerald green and sapphire blue nail colour by Deborah Lippmann.

Have a good weekend Fashion Palatiers!

Three Green hearts: Goddess Hair Jewelry

I started wearing feather clips made by Three Green Hearts last summer, I picked them up at a local boutique. They are exquisite in person! Each  piece of handcrafted hair jewelry features at least two feathers, wood beads all secured on leather, which also come in an assortment of colors.
Recently they had a Facebook giveaway and all I had to do was pick a picture of my favorite feather clip and post it on their wall. As you can tell I was won of the winners. So excited to own another one these fab feather hair extensions.
As you can see, the peacock feathers are attached two leather strands that add a highlight to my hair color. I picked a light brown. You can pretty much clip this anyway in your hair, I like the way it looks tucked behind the ear.
I'm pretty crazy about them, they add a nice pop of surprise to a basic outfit. I like to keep it casual with my clothes when I 'm wearing one of these, it tends to give off a bohemian vibe.

This is the first Goddess Hair Jewelry from Three Green Hearts that I purchased. I love the polka dots, must have come from a very stylish bird!

Find some beautiful feathers to style in your own hair here:

One more thing, try to keep your prized Three Green Hearts feathers out of reach from little guys such as this one, they tend to accessorize occasionally.

Fashion Hunters: A Miyake Mystery

Fashion Art Thieves!! Never trust geometrically clothed old ladies!!!
Nonono, I kid. I have no proof, but they do look very sketchy.

I love it when Second Time Around managers call in for Barney's Creative Ambassador-at-large Simon Doonan's expertise. He shows up every episode so I'm beginning to think he has a lot of time on his hands, or a lot of Second Time Around money in his pockets...

If you have not been watching Fashion Hunters, well you need to start. I LOVE this show. I learn something new every week, its like the fashion merchandising classes I never got to take. The reality show takes place at a New York consignment shop called Second Time Around. We follow Tara, Ambria, Karina, and new to the team (their gay) Wilson on their fashion hunting adventures.

Last week we learned about spotting a fake Birkin, than with no other than himself, author of Bringing Home the Birkin, Michael Tonello, (I nearly screamed at my husband when I saw him show up on this episode) this is a must read book for fashionistas!

This week was so so, learned about Issey Miyake oddly dressed followers, or how I would imagine high fashion art thieves dress like if they were characters in a comic book. My least favorite part of this episode is when Ambria (assistant store manager) has a breakdown with her ex boyfriend over the phone and then has an impromptu therapy session with a consigner in the said consigner/"therapists" home later that day. Ughhh, please keep the personal drama out and keep bringing the Birkins! We only have 30 minutes people!

Next week they decipher a fake Chanel from a real one. And we peak into a Podiatrist to the stars shoe closet-and I don't even know what that means yet. But I do know hundreds of shoes are involved. Woo hoo!

Breaking Down with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: "Game Night Gone Wild"

photo from

Monday night is the night I crave the most drama, you know the housewife reality drama. LOVE it. These girls got it down pat when it comes to breaking down and look absolutely fabulous in Louboutins while doing it.

So let's gossip! Here's what happened this week on RHOBH episode "Game Night Gone Wild":

"Listen we live in Beverly Hills, we live our life, we do our thang.." Pam, the voice of reason...

First off, say what you will about Brandi (the newbie housewife-you know the one that was dumped by her husband for Leanne Rimes...yeah that's her.) or on the other hand let Brandi say what she will about herself (which she will at least 10 times an episode call herself a slut) but at least she was the only one able to call out the elephant in the room all night. Seriously Kim, the 10 hundo trips to the restroom makes me a little suspicious. Still, calling someone out on what could be a drug addiction the first day you meet them, seemed a little arrogant.

But lets forget about all that for now, which is what everyone seems to want to do. As they proceed to kick Brandi out the house and hide her crouches (how old are these ladies?!) the host of the game night Dana or "Pam," we are just calling her Pam now btw. Pam continues to weasel her way into the lives of the Housewives, with her $25,000 dollar sunglasses and sad display of 4 bread sticks and meringues the size of my fist and and did you see, her new fur coat she bought at the charity event?

Good luck Pam!

And here's what we have to look forward to next week! Can't wait for the over the top engagement party by Ken and Lisa!

My Fave Fashionistas & Their Sweet Strands

Rachel Bilson (Getty Images)

Lauren Conrad (Getty Images)

Its no surprise that my two favorite fashion stylistas both have great hair! Lauren Conrad and Rachel Bilson, are the epitome of California Chic. We got Lauren on one hand who is laid back and beautiful, and Rachel who is effortlessly cool. They wear their clothes like its nothing, and their hair the same way.

With minimal touches their hairdos make a big statement.
One of which I'm loving right now, the ombre hair color effect. L.C. recently dyed her tips peach after her fans suggested the color in a recent poll on her blog. I think it looks great on blond hair, fun and fresh and right off the runway.

Rachel on the other hand has my hair type and color, It's the look I'm trying to reach right now, my next visit to my salon will be to lighten the tips and add some black underneath as well.

Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2012: A Carousel of Dreams.

This week in Paris, Louis Vuitton showcased the Spring/Summer 2012 collection designed by Marc Jacobs and it was not to be missed! Absolutely stunning and breathtaking, there are no other words to describe how immaculate this show was.

Here I am asking myself, how do I get tickets to this kind of thing? I can only imagine the ooohs and awes that were trying to be held back during this show! Take a look at this You Tube video that Niemen Marcus so graciously captured for all of us little Fashion Palatiers. ;)

You will notice a lot of metallic, silver, coral, light green and a very now and refreshing white. The muted yellows, blues and pinks of the dress color scheme reminded me of cotton candy at a carnival. The shoes were crazy gorgeous, j'adored the metallic straps which accented the shoe color beautifully. The dresses seemed somewhat magical, and the bags well come on, I haven't seen such chic bags like this in awhile, the white bags are serious.

The stage affect made it seem like all of this was just a dream, like a kid on a carousel! Oh and Marc Jacobs looked great in white too I must say. Did you notice Kate Moss ending the show in her overall fab look (a feathery cut out mini dress, hair in a messy bun and chic white shoes)?

Fashion followers, seems like pastels, metallic and white are in for Spring and Summer next year!

What did you think of the show and the collection? Any favorites?

Mode Bay Area & Valley Fair Styling Work

Mode Bay Area: Hasti Kashfia, Laura Kathleen (Project Runway designer Season 9), and The Fashion Palate: Franci Gire.

Laura Kathleen & Hasti Kashfia Hosting Project Pink

I had one of my biggest projects as a stylist for the Project Pink Runway Show on Saturday October 1, 2011. Mode Bay Area and Westfield Valley Fair hosted the annual fashion show which benefits the American Cancer Society. A great cause with great fashion. The fashion show featured fall looks from Superdry, Banana Republic, Gap, White House Black Market, Ann Taylor and Franco Uomo. Hair was done in true warrior style by VE Salon and makeup by Asal.

The fashion tent located outside the mall decked out with a pink carpet entrance was ahhhmazing, filled with swag bags containing lots of goodies from the mall (my favorite treat was the Hello Kitty Notepad), there was also pink cocktails for the ladies and beer for the men, cotton candy machine, a full on candy bar and California Pizza kitchen had a delicious assortment of appetizers.

Back to the project, overseeing the actual looks was quiet a task and I had an absolutely amazing time doing it. Take a look at the photo album I created and you will see the looks I had a hand in styling including, Banana Republic both women and men's looks, Super Dry and White House Black Market.

When else can I pick out racks of clothing without looking at the price tags? Best. job. ever.

I'm looking forward to Project Pink 2012 already!

If you missed the event here is a fantastic video of what went down.

Where there is a photo booth you will find me..joining me in the fun: Jeff Gire (The Fashion Palate Photographer)
